Awareness raising and education for development

ABOUT US

WHO WE ARE

RESPECT is a registered international NGO working mainly in the field of education and assistance to refugee populations in the world. We encourage activism among youth and further empowering of refugee children and communities through letter and cultural exchange, through the donation and transport of education-related material aid or through ICT projects to shorten the digital gap existing today between developed and non-developed countries.

We have been a part of the RESPECT International network since May 2005.

A BIT OF OUR HISTORY

RESPECT (Refugees Education Sponsorship Program, Enhancing Communities Together ) is an international NGO committed to raising awareness among international youth about refugees and refugee issues, encouraging activism among youth, and further empowering refugee children and communities through letter and cultural exchange, through the donation and transport of education-related material aid.

RESPECT was born in early 2005 volunteers from RESPECT International, a Canadian-based organisation working to support refugee communities, decided to start carrying on RESPECT International’s activities also from Europe, under a new organisation but following the same principles, sharing the same brand and collaborating together for the benefit of those most in need. The project was broadly supported by other volunteers with extensive experience in international cooperation that joined forces to create RESPECT Refugiados.

RESPECT established its headquarters in Brussels in May 2005 and started building the core infrastructure needed to reach its goals.

In February 2006, RESPECT was registered officially in Spain and moved its HQ to Barcelona to increase its awareness raising activities and expand its refugee-supporting programs. Since then, RESPECT keeps working with the help of our volunteers and partners to make this world a bit better for many people.
